  • US Embassy relocated from the swanky neighbourhood of Mayfair to a more industrial one, Nine Elms, on the South Bank of the Thames.
  • Peter Rees, the City of London’s former head of planning, told the New York Times this was akin to “moving from New York’s Upper East Side to New Jersey.”
  • Ground was broken on November 13, 2013, and the building opened to the public on December 13, 2017.
  • On February 23, 2010, the U.S. government announced that a team led by the firm of KieranTimberlake had won the competition to design the new embassy building and surrounding green spaces

The new American Embassy in London is the most expensive in the world and includes safety features like a small moat.

Coming at a cost of $1bn and months behind schedule, the new building will have a 100-foot moat on the riverside which is supposedly designed to withstand terrorist attacks, the Daily Mail reported.

The new US diplomatic outpost is being relocated from the swanky neighbourhood of Mayfair to a more industrial one, Nine Elms, on the South Bank of the Thames.

Peter Rees, the City of London’s former head of planning, told the New York Times this was akin to “moving from New York’s Upper East Side to New Jersey.”

The current embassy in Grosvenor Square has been the target of terrorist threats in the past and a nuisance to its wealthy neighbours, prompting one aristocrat – a countess named Anca Vidaeff – to stage a hunger strike in protest of it, according to the newspaper.

On October 8, 2008, the embassy announced a conditional agreement with the real estate developer Ballymore to purchase property for a new embassy site on the south bank of the River Thames in the Nine Elms area of the London Borough of Wandsworth.[17] The site lies within the Vauxhall/Nine Elms/Battersea Opportunity Area as set out in the London Plan. The proposed plan would only go forward if approved by the United States Congress and by the local planning authority.[18] The Northern line extension to Battersea will have new stations at Battersea and Nine Elms—combined with major local development.

In November 2009, the U.S. government conditionally agreed to sell the Grosvenor Square Chancery Building to Qatari real-estate investment firm Qatari Diar, which in 2007 purchased the Chelsea Barracks.[20]The building is now one of Mayfair’s 238 listed buildings and monuments.[22][23] In 2016 plans were approved for the conversion of the building into a hotel.[24]

On February 23, 2010, the U.S. government announced that a team led by the firm of KieranTimberlake had won the competition to design the new embassy building and surrounding green spaces.[25] The winning design resembles a crystalline cube, with a semi-circular pond on one side (called a “moat” by The Times)[26] and surrounded by extensive public green spaces.[27]

Ground was broken on November 13, 2013, and the building opened to the public on December 13, 2017.

Donald Trump cancels his visit to Britain

President Trump:

Reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for “peanuts,” only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars. Bad deal. Wanted me to cut ribbon-NO!

LONDON: POLICE WON’T INVESTIGATE MINOR CRIMES UNLESS IT’S ‘HATE CRIME’, CRIMES SURGE UNDER MUSLIM MAYOR SADIQ KHAN

Parsons Green

  • London’s Met Police Won’t Investigate Minor Crime, Only ‘Hate Crime’
  • London mayor Sadiq Khan presided over huge rises in knife crime, gun crime, theft, burglary, rape, homicide, and more.

London’s Metropolitan Police force will not bother to investigate crimes if officers are required to watch CCTV for more than 20 minutes or there is no footage available.

The UK’s largest force will also drop investigations into thousands of lower-level offences and ignore certain crimes such as vandalism, vehicle crime, and fuel theft if damages do not exceed £50.

The new “crime assessment policy” was uncovered after a Freedom of Information request by The Times, and comes a time of increasing budgetary pressures and falling police numbers.

LONDON ‘NO-GO ZONES’ ‘Too Dangerous to Work’ FOR DELIVERY DRIVERS DUE TO Acid Attacks and Knife Crimes

Posted on Updated on

acid

Delivery drivers have branded large parts of London “no-go zones” in which acid attacks and rampant knife crime have made them too fearful to work.

The frequency of assaults using corrosive liquid in the city — officially the world capital of reported acid attacks — has left drivers choosing to take a big pay cut rather than braving dangerous areas of London at night.

“We used to work till 2am – now people are stopping before 10pm,” one moped driver revealed to The Sun.“After 8pm or 9pm, we’re not going to those dangerous places.”

Places named by delivery men as areas of the UK capital which are too dangerous to work include Hackney and Stoke Newington — boroughs which local MP Diane Abbott boastsare “ethnically diverse”, noting just 36 per cent of residents describe themselves as white British. – READ MORE

UNIVERSITY APOLOGIZES TO SNOWFLAKES FOR ASKING IF THEY’RE ‘DREAMING OF A WHITE CAMPUS’ SNOW DAY

( MRCTV) Last week, University College London was forced to issue an apology after attempting to paraphrase Bing Crosby’s hit Christmas song, “White Christmas.” UCL’s alleged mistake was asking if students were dreaming of a “white campus,” which many interpreted as a call for a white-only campus.

In UCL’s original tweet, they simply asked if students were “[d]reaming of a white campus” before using specific hashtags to signify the post was about snow, such as #snowday and #londonsnow:

Soon after the tweet, UCL issued an apology, claiming their word choice was poor. The school also vowed to pick their words “more carefully in the future”:

TERROR! LONDON TRAIN BUCKET BOMBER INJURED 22, REPORT TERROR SUSPECT ARMED WITH KNIVES, MORE BOMBS

Posted on Updated on

Police are today hunting for the ‘bucket bomber’ who tried to blow up a rush hour Tube train and injured 22 people – but Donald Trump says the terror suspect was already in Scotland Yard’s ‘sights’ before the attack.

The crude IED could have killed dozens but failed to properly detonate and sent a ‘wall of fire’ through the carriage at Parsons Green injuring at least 22 people including a ten-year-old boy.

Today officers are hunting for the bomber – and a potential cell – amid claims the terror suspect is armed with knives and may have left other devices.

Terrified passengers were seen covered in blood with scorched hands, legs, faces and hair – others suffered crush injuries during a ‘human stampede’ as they ‘ran for their lives’ in west London at 8.20am.

But the US President has sparked a diplomatic row after tweeting: ‘Another attack in London by a loser terrorist’ and saying police should be ‘more proactive’.

The Met hit back and said it was ‘pure speculation’ and also refused to confirm Sky News’ claims they have identified the bomber from CCTV.

Washington and London found themselves at loggerheads after the Manchester terror attack when US officials named the suicide bomber as Salman Abedi and pictures of the bomb – when British police refused to.
