Fusion GPS continues research on Trump amid growing concern for Congressional Committees

Sara Carter reports:

The controversial research firm Fusion GPS is still investigating alleged ties between President Trump’s 2016 election campaign and Russia, according to several sources who spoke to this reporter.

What’s not known is who is paying for the continuing research? Fusion GPS officials could not be reached immediately for comment. […]

Rep. Ron DeSantis, a Florida Republican and Chairman of the National Security Subcommittee, sent a letter last week to House Speaker Paul Ryan, asking him to direct Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes , R-CA to declassify documents given to the committee related to the dossier. […]

DeSantis told this reporter that releasing the information on the dossier and the classified FISA applications is the first step in getting the truth to the public.

“Congress needs to determine the role played by Fusion GPS in the Russia matter and that includes any current Fusion activity,” said DeSantis. “Fusion has not been forthright with Congress and the American people deserve the facts.”

OBAMA STATE DEPT. NOW PART OF RUSSIA DOSSIER CONGRESSIONAL PROBE

Posted on

Byron York of the Washington Examiner reports the Obama State Department is now being probed as to whether or not they had a hand in the Russian dossier by Christopher Steele, the British spy trusted not only of the FBI, but the State Department as well.

book published in November by a correspondent at the Guardian, “Collusion: Secret meetings, dirty money, and how Russia helped Donald Trump win,” noted that Steele’s 2010 work on the World Cup soccer corruption investigation won him the trust not only of the FBI, but the State Department as well. From author Luke Harding:

The [soccer] episode burnished Steele’s reputation inside the U.S. intelligence community and the FBI. Here was a pro, a well-connected Brit, who understood Russian espionage and its subterranean tricks. Steele was regarded as credible. Between 2014 and 2016, Steele authored more than a hundred reports on Russia and Ukraine. These were written for a private client but shared widely within the State Department and sent up to Secretary of State John Kerry and to Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, who was in charge of the U.S. response to the Ukraine crisis. Many of Steele’s secret sources were the same sources who would supply information on Trump. One former State Department envoy during the Obama administration said he read dozens of Steele’s reports on Russia. The envoy said that on Russia, Steele was “as good as the CIA or anyone.” Steele’s professional reputation inside U.S. agencies would prove important the next time he discovered alarming material, and lit the fuse again.

RUSSIAN COMPANY BOTH PAID FUSION GPS AND RUSSIAN LAWYER NATALIA VESELNITSKAYA

  • DNC and Hillary Clinton paid Fusion GPS Glenn Simpson to spread bogus Trump-Russia dossier.
  • Simpson was also hired by a U.S. law firm Baker Hostetler to do opposition research for its client, Russian company Prevezon.
  • Prevezon’s lawyer is Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer who had a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. in Trump Tower.

PREVEZON, Fusion GPS and Natalia Veselnitskaya

In 2013, the US Department of Justice sued Prevezon Holding under the Magnitsky Act for money-laundering. The lawsuit sought forfeiture of various assets and real estate holdings in the US.

The sole shareholder of Prevezon was Russian citizen Denis Katsyv,

Denis Katsyv’s Russian lawyer was Natalia Veselnitskaya but she was not licensed to practice in the US.

Katsyv hired the law firm of BakerHostetler to represent Prevezon.

BakerHostetler hired Fusion GPS in early 2014 to provide research help for the litigation.

On June 9, 2016, Veselnitskaya met with Donald Trump Jr., Paul Manafort, and Jared Kushner in Trump Tower,

From April 2016 through October 2016, the law firm Perkins Coie, on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee retained Fusion GPS to continue opposition research on Trump.

In June 2016, Fusion GPS retained Christopher Steele, a private British corporate intelligence investigator and former MI-6 agent, to research any Russian connections to Trump. Steele produced a 35-page series of memos from June to December 2016, which became the document known as the Donald Trump–Russia dossier.

The Magnitsky Act

In 2009, Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer who had accused Moscow law enforcement of stealing $230 million in tax rebates from his client was beaten to death in jail.

In 2012, Magnitsky’s client, Bill Browder, secured passage of the Magnitsky Act, which imposed sanctions on the officials involved. Russian President Vladimir Putin responded by banning adoptions by Americans.[8]

Prevezon and the Department of Justice settled the case in May 2017 for $5.9 million.

TRANSCRIPT: PAUL MANAFORT NOTES AT TRUMP TOWER RUSSIA MEETING – RUSSIAN ADOPTIONS, CYPRUS, RNC

( Daily Caller ) Notes taken by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort during the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting refer to “Russian adoptions by American families,” according to a transcript of a Senate Judiciary Committee interview released this week.

The notes provide the first contemporaneous evidence that shows that Russia’s adoption policy was discussed during that June 9, 2016 meeting, which members of the Trump campaign attended along with a Russian government lawyer and Russian-American lobbyist.

The notes, portions of which were revealed to Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson during his Aug. 22 Senate Judiciary Committee interview, also appear to make no overt reference to anything resembling collusion.

Many of the meeting attendees — including Donald Trump Jr. and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya — have previously claimed that adoption policy was discussed in the meeting, but no evidence had been made public.

…Business Insider first flagged a portion of the transcript which shows Simpson reviewing Manafort’s notes, which he reportedly took on an iPhone.

Simpson, whose firm commissioned the infamous Trump dossier, was showed the notes because at the time of the Trump Tower meeting, he was working with Veselnitskaya and Rinat Akhmetshin, a Russian-American lobbyist who also attended the meeting.

Simpson’s work with the two Russians dealt directly with the topics that they allegedly discussed with the Trump team.

According to the Senate transcript, Simpson read off several items in the notes, including “Active sponsors of RNC,” “Value in Cyprus as inter,” and “Illici.”

He also identified the phrase “Russian adoptions by American families.”

SNEAKY DIANE FEINSTEIN RELEASED ILLEGALLY GLENN SIMPSON TESTIMONY TRANSCRIPT AT THE REQUEST OF FUSION GPS’s LAWYERS

First, Democrat Sneaky Diane Feinstein claimed  she illegally released Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson’s secret committee testimony because someone pressured her to do so. When asked who, she retracted her story and blamed her poor decision on her cold.

Now, the Daily Caller has confirmed that Dianne Feinstein released the transcript at the request of Fusion GPS’s lawyers.

President Trump called the unauthorized move of  Sneaky Dianne Feinstein ”very disrespectful to committee members and possibly illegal’:

Democrat Dianne Feinstein should never have released secret committee testimony to the public without authorization. Very disrespectful to committee members and possibly illegal. She blamed her poor decision on the fact she had a cold – a first!

The fact that Sneaky Dianne Feinstein, who has on numerous occasions stated that collusion between Trump/Russia has not been found, would release testimony in such an underhanded and possibly illegal way, totally without authorization, is a disgrace. Must have tough Primary!

The Daily Caller:

California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein told The Daily Caller that Fusion GPS lawyers asked her to release company co-founder Glenn Simpson’s testimony transcript.

[…]“We were written to by the lawyers of the company asking that it be released, and the reason, of course, is because it has been used by rumor and innuendo and falsity so much that the time came for people to see exactly what was said,” Feinstein said.

ACCOMPLICE! JOHN McCAIN WAS USED BY FUSION GPS TO SPREAD DOSSIER TO OBAMA INTEL AGENCIES

  • The goal of providing the dossier to John McCain, the Fusion GPS founders explained, was to pass the information contained in the questionable document to the U.S. intelligence community under the Obama administration.

Breitbart.com reported:

The founders of the controversial opposition research firm Fusion GPS admitted that they helped the researcher hired to compile the infamous, largely discredited 35-page dossier on President Donald Trump to share the document with Sen. John McCain.

The goal of providing the dossier to McCain, the Fusion GPS founders explained, was to pass the information contained in the questionable document to the U.S. intelligence community under the Obama administration.

The disclosure raises questions about whether McCain knew that the information he delivered to the intelligence community was actually an opposition document reportedly funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

McCain’s office did not reply yesterday to a Breitbart News request for comment on the matter.

Last December, it was revealed that it was McCain who notoriously passed the controversial dossier documents produced by the Washington opposition research firm Fusion GPS to then FBI Director James Comey, whose agency reportedly utilized the dossier as a basis for its probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Writing in a New York Times oped last Tuesday, Fusion GPS founders Glenn R. Simpson and Peter Fritch relate that they helped McCain share their anti-Trump dossier with the intelligence community via an “emissary.”

WHO? DIANE FEINSTEIN: ‘SOMEONE PRESSURED ME TO RELEASE FUSION GPS TRANSCRIPT’ – LATER CLAIMED SHE ‘MISSPOKE’

Posted on

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)  said she released the Fusion GPS transcripts on Tuesday because she was “pressured” to do so. When asked who pressured her, she claimed she ‘misspoke’.

CNN Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju tweeted the report:

“FEINSTEIN says she’s sorry to Grassley for not giving him a headsup about the release of the Fusion GPS transcript. ‘I meant to tell him, and I didn’t have a chance to tell him, and that concerns me,’ she told us. ‘I just got pressured, and I didn’t do it.'”

UPDATE: Feinstein later claimed she was not pressured but that she ‘misspoke’. Huh?

Asked who pressured her, Feinstein says: “I wasn’t pressured” without reconciling her two statements. Her office later said she misspoke and wasn’t pressured to release transcript.
