From ABC News:

Leaders of a New York Episcopal diocese removed two plaques honoring Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from a church property in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

The plaques were removed by the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, which owns the property.

The larger of the two plaques was placed outside St. John’s Episcopal Church by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1912. It commemorated the spot where Lee is said to have planted a tree while serving in the Army at Fort Hamilton in New York in the 1840s, two decades before he became commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia.

The plaque marked a tree that was a descendant of the one Lee is believed to have planted. A second plaque made note of that. Workers used power tools to remove them Wednesday

A married mother-of-two leaving Celestial Church of Christ (file above) after praying was robbed and sexually assaulted at gunpoint by five young men in Queens, police say

  • Five armed ‘hooligans’ forced 50-year-old woman to strip and perform oral sex after ambushing her as she left church

( Daily Mail ) A married mother-of-two leaving church after praying was robbed and sexually assaulted at gunpoint by five young men in Queens, police say.

The 50-year-old woman had just left Celestial Church of Christ on Tuesday evening when she was approached by two young men on 150th Street as she walked to the subway station.

They allegedly led her at gunpoint back down the block to 150th Street and Beaver Road where they attacked her behind a garbage truck demanding her wallet.

‘They tell me, ‘you don’t have money so take off your clothes!’ the victim told The New York Daily News. ‘I said, ‘What? In the middle of the street?’

They two men called over three other guys nearby to join them before they forced her to strip naked in the street and demand she perform oral sex on three of the predators.

She claims she tried to scare them away by saying she was HIV-positive – which she is not – but that didn’t even frighten them.

The woman was walking about a half-block away from the Celestial Church of Christ when a man came up from behind, put a gun to her head and demanded all her cash.

‘They said, ‘if you don’t do that, I’ll shoot you,’ the victim recounted to the Daily News. ‘So I did what I had to do.’

Three of the five young men took turns forcing her to perform the sex act on them, police say. One of the men did run away to return with a condom.

‘You’re a stupid African woman,’ one of the attackers said as he slapped the helpless woman.

After the attack and the group of men fled, the woman ran back to the church, half-naked and crying, her Pastor Kehinde Oyetunde said.

‘She was crying and her face was full of rubbish,’ Oyetunde told the Daily News.

‘She had her clothes in her hands. She said that they pulled a gun on her and took her stuff, then wanted to sleep with her.

‘She lied and told them she was an HIV patient and to please leave her alone.’

Financier found dead after gay bondage hookup went bad: cops

( New York Post ) A Brooklyn financier was found naked and dead in his tony Dumbo pad — after a gay bondage hookup went awry, police sources said Tuesday.

Neil Rodney Smith, 57, CEO of the investment firm Infraccess, was discovered lying on his back in bed with a wet towel stuffed in his mouth and a pillow over his face inside the apartment at 1 Main St. around 1:45 p.m. Monday, police sources said.

“He went online and hooked up with some guy and, whatever they were doing,” he died, a police source said.

Not long before his death, “A roommate heard a guy in there with him. He heard them having sex,” the source added.

Sounds from the room stopped, and a roommate later found Smith dead, the police source said.

There were no signs of trauma — but police are investigating whether there may have been foul play, according to cops.

Police also are reviewing surveillance camera footage of a male visitor from outside the home.

“There is video surveillance of a guy and a girl outside the apartment. The girl stays out, and the guy goes in,” the police source said.

Smith had been talking online with the mystery man before he was found dead, according to cops.

“There were text messages exchanged and Facebook stuff where he’s hooking up with this guy,” a police source said

  • Look at that f—-t’s pants,” one of the teens told the other

From NY Daily News:

Boffa and his boyfriend, 25-year-old Gardella, were walking arm-and-arm on Grand St. near Bedford Ave. at about 6:10 p.m. when two boys, ages 15 and 13, walked by them, snickering about the older man’s laugh and skinny jeans.

“Look at that f—-t’s pants,” one of the teens told the other, according to Boffa.

Boffa stopped and asked the teens to repeat themselves.

“Then it went from 0 to 60,” Boffa said. “They shoved us and started spitting at us calling us ‘f—-t.’ That’s when one of them picked up the brick.”

The two victims ran off — and soon realized that the suspects, as well as six other teens, were chasing them
