A 19-year-old Palestinian terrorist massacred a Jewish family celebrating Shabbat dinner and birth of their grandson. Three Israelis were stabbed to death and one seriously wounded. A neighbor, an off-duty Oketz unit soldier, heard screams from the home next door and shot through the window of the house, seriously wounding the attacker. Abed was later hospitalized and is now in the hands of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
The Jerusalem Post reported:
Three Israelis were killed and one seriously wounded in a stabbing attack in the West Bank town of Halamish on Friday evening.
The Israel Defense Forces reported that a Palestinian assailant infiltrated a private home in the community of Halamish, also known as Neve Tsuf, north west of Ramallah, and stabbed four Israeli civilians. Three of the victims died as a result of their wounds, and one was evacuated to Shaare Tzedek hospital. The assailant was shot by a neighbor.
A 60-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, and a 40 year-old-man were killed and a woman, approximately 60-years-old, was hospitalized.
The hospital reported on Saturday morning that the hospitalized woman had undergone surgery overnight and her condition was now considered serious but “good.” Israeli media reported that she was informed of the three deaths following surgery.
The initial investigation into the attack determined that Abed, 19, carried out the assault alone.
He walked three kilometers from his village of Kobar to Halamish armed with a knife he bought a few days earlier. Carrying a backpack with a Koran, wallet and bottle of water, he arrived at the family’s home, close to the entrance of the settlement.
He is believed to have “purified himself” with the bottle of water before entering the home and stabbing to death Salomon and his two adult children.
The attack ended when Abed was shot in the stomach by the victims’ neighbor, an off-duty Oketz unit soldier, who heard screams from the home next door and shot through the window of the house, seriously wounding the attacker. Abed was later hospitalized and is now in the hands of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
