( Daily Mail ) Hero police officer Keith Palmer posed for tourists just 45 minutes before he was brutally stabbed to death by a terrorist.

Pc Palmer, a member of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Squad, was killed as he tried to stop jihadist Khalid Masood during the attack on Westminster, at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Masood, who was armed with two knives, injured around 40 people as he mowed down pedestrians with a car on Westminster Bridge before crashing at the railings in front of Parliament.

Bursting through the gate to the Palace of Westminster, he stabbed Pc Palmer before being shot dead by armed officers.

US Tourist Staci Martin met the police officer just minutes before he was murdered by Masood.

She told ABC News: ‘It’s my first time in London and I see his hat and I’m like I have to take a picture of him with his hat.

‘I walked up to him and said ‘do you mind if I take a picture?’ He said ‘no problem’, he was really nice.’
