( Heavy ) Two suspects were taken into custody after the shooting, police told reporters at the scene.
Sources told TVA Nouvelles one of the suspects has a French name and is a Quebec native, while the other has a name of “Arab origin.”
According to La Presse, the second suspect is of Moroccan descent. It is not clear if he is originally from Morocco or if he was born in Canada.
A source told Radio-Canada both suspects are students at Université Laval, a French-language, public college in Quebec City. There are about 28,500 undergraduate students and 8,500 graduate students attending the school.
A post on twitter reports Quebec mosque shooting suspects are Bashir Al-Taweed and Hassan Matti. The two Syrians refugees reportedly entered Canada last week. The names and status of being Syrian refugee still not verified, except on this twitter post below.
